Great Bend, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – The Garden City Community College Lady Busters Basketball team back-up their upset of No. 1 Hutchinson last Wednesday with a 66-61 road victory Saturday night at Barton County. The Buster men dropped their 7th consecutive game on the season with a 73-56 set-back at the hands of the Cougars.
For the Lady Busters it was a back and forth game all the way holding on to the lead for most of the game, however the score was tied 10 times and the lead changed 12 times during the 40 minute span. Garden City was getting balanced scoring from five of their eight players on the bench and took a 5 point lead into the locker room 39-34 at halftime. The Lady Busters also had some foul trouble in the first half, with Mikel Chinn on the bench with 3 fouls, and Deni Jacobs had 2. NOTE: With her 10 points in the Barton County win, Tamara Jones became the all-time leading scorer in Garden City Community women’s Basketball history with 1005 points. Jones broke the previous record of 1000 points set by Jasmine Irving from 2002-2004. Jones is also the first player Coach Alaura Sharp has coached that has broken and all-time record.
