Holcomb Faces Hoisington in the Opening Round of 3A Football Play-Offs-Audio
Holcomb, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – For the 6th time in the last 7 years the Holcomb Longhorns have been in the Kansas State High School Activities Association Football play-offs and tonight they start their 2012 run with the Hoisington Cardinals at Longhorn Stadium. Holcomb has been on a great roll this season with only one loss going into the play-offs and that was to the #2 team in the state the Scott City Beavers in a close game 21-7 on the road. The Longhorns will put their 8-1 record on the line tonight as they host the big physical team of Hoisington with a running quarterback in senior Hagen Hanzlick. The Cardinals really like to spread the field and get the defense out of position and let Hanzlick find a seam in the run oriented offense. The Holcomb Longhorns will rely on senior quarterback Tyler LaSalle who is also a running quarterback that is quick, elusive and a great team leader, but they will also throw a balanced attack at the Cardinals. Longhorn Head Coach Jerry Johnson comments on tonight’s match-up in the first round of the 3A play-offs.
