Lawrence Phillip Bayer
Lawrence Phillip Bayer, age 89, died Monday, January 21, 2014 at The Lakes Nursing Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born July 1, 1924 at Willowdale, Kansas, the son of Nickolas & Catherine (Becker) Bayer. Lawrence was married to Marcella Henning on April 20, 1948 at Willowdale.
Lawrence attended school in Willowdale. He moved to Garden City in 1948 and was a carpet layer for 32 years. He owned the Carpet Gallery for 15 years. Lawrence enjoyed traveling, fishing & woodworking. Memberships include St Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, and Knights Of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Bayer; three sons, Gilbert Bayer of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Michael Bayer of San Diego, California, Ted Bayer of Alpharetta, Georgia; two sisters Helen Gehlen of Colwich, Kansas, Pauline Hahn of Garden City, Kansas; two brothers Henry Bayer of Satanta, Kansas, Leo Bayer of Carbondale, Colorado; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Noon to 8:00 PM Saturday, and Noon to 5:30 PM Sunday , at Garnand Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Monday, January 27, 2014 at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Seiwert officiating.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.
Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at St Mary Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given to the St Mary’s Education Endowment in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
