Several Issues Are Focus of Legislative Session
Topeka, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Uncertainty looms over the Kansas Legislature as it prepares to open its annual session today. Lawmakers are waiting for a state Supreme Court decision on whether the state is spending enough money on its public schools. The question is when will the decision come down and can the legislature adjust if it’s forced to kick in more money. Representative Russ Jennings says there’s a move to do away with the death penalty for life without parole.
Currently 18 states ban capital punishment.
