🔊 Buffaloes Lose to Hutchinson 21-12, Drop to 0-3 (Stats & Postgame)
The Garden City Buffaloes dropped to 0-3 for the second straight year with a 21-12 loss to Hutchinson on Friday.Â
Both teams went scoreless in the first quarter, keeping the ball on the ground and working the clock. Each team had one possession in the quarter. Hutchinson opened up the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown by Dallas Chambers to take a 6-0 lead after the missed extra point.
Garden City answered with 3:32 left in the half on a two-yard touchdown by Josh Janas to tie the game at 6-6 after a missed extra point. With 46 seconds to go in the half, Chambers broke free for an 80 yard touchdown all the way to the Garden City one yard line. On the following play, Alec McCuan ran in for a score to make it 12-6 after a failed two-point conversion to hold the lead at half.
Hutchinson received the kickoff in the second half and marched down the field to score and make it 19-6. Garden City had a punt blocked for a safety with just under nine minutes to go to make it 21-6.
Garden City took advantage of a fumble by Hutchinson with 6:42 left and scored two plays later on a 23-yard scamper by Josh Janas to cut the lead 21-12. On the following drive, Hutchinson ran six minutes off the clock before punting with :42 left in the game. Garden City was unable to score with the time remaining.Â
Garden City is 0-3 and opens up WAC play next Friday in Hays.Â
