Zoo Deals with Passing of Two Addax Last Week

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Lee Richardson Zoo is morning the loss of two separate Addax last week.  An Addax is a type of antelope from North Africa. Joy the sixteen year old died during a medical procedure.  Tests showed some internal abnormalities. 

Moe was 21 at the time of his death Sunday and was the oldest Addax in North America at the time of his passing.  The couple had two offspring and had been together five years.  Tests will done on Moe to determine the exact cause of death, but he lived twice the average age for his species.
