Xyla M. Bennett, 93, died January 28, 2017 at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart. She was born on June 25, 1923 on the family farm in Woodward County, Oklahoma the daughter of Rosco and Laura Bell (Benne) Bellows.

Xyla spent her childhood on the family farm in Woodward County near Sharon, Oklahoma. She attended school in Sharon. After her graduation from high school, Xyla went to Alva, Oklahoma to further her education. She obtained a teaching certificate and taught school prior to her marriage. On June 5, 1947, Xyla married Robert O. Bennett. He preceded her in death. Xyla was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family.

Xyla is survived by a son, Don Bennett and wife Carolyn of Elkhart and three grandchildren, Philip Bennett and wife Steph of Kansas City, Alison Bennett of Kearney, Nebraska, and James McGuire and wife Karen of Elkhart. In addition to her husband Robert, Xyla is preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

A private family service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place.
