Winter Weather Advisory for portion of area**updated 11 am 1/3/25
The first winter storm of 2025 is expected to impact most of the area this weekend, as the National Weather Serivce in Dodge City has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a good portion of the area, from 12 pm CT Saturday-6 pm CT Sunday.
According to the NWS, the are can expect a mix of drizzle, freezing drizzle & freezing rain is expected to begin by Saturday morning. A wintry mix will change over to snow Saturday evening as gusty north winds that will bring in colder air into western Kansas. Snow accumulations 1 and 5 inches of snow is expected and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch. Winds could gust as as high as 45 mph.
Along with the colder air will be low wind chills will be present from Saturday night into Monday morning.
