Wichita woman dies in crash south of Garden City

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — A Wichita woman has died after a crash on Monday afternoon in Finney County. The woman was headed northbound when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a semi about two miles south of Garden City on U.S. 83. She would later die from her injuries at St. Catherine’s Hospital.

Tuyen Nguyen, 50, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic when she drove over the center line and ran into a 2019 Kenworth semi driven by Douglas Brittenham, 59, of North Platte, Neb. Nguyen’s car struck the axles on the semi, before crashing into a guard rail and stopping on the northbound shoulder.

The Kansas Highway Patrol stated that Nguyen wasn’t wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision. Brittenham was wearing his and did not suffer any injuries.
