Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Overall, the six teams in the Clarion Inn Roundball Classic seem to be balanced from top to bottom. Friday night’s games saw a pair of games that never saw one team reach a double digit lead. Unfortunately for Scott City, it was Wichita Trinity taking a pair of games at Scott Community High School. The Lady Knights remained unbeaten with a Lauren Snodgrass jumper with three seconds remaining to win 38-36, while the Knight boys never trailed in a 48-41 victory.

Girls
Scott City opened the game better than the previous night against Palmer Ridge. The Lady Beavers opened an 8-0 lead, and also led 12-4, before Wichita Trinity made their push. After Scott City took a 17-15 lead at intermission, the Lady Knights came out strong, scoring the first nine points of the second half to open up a 24-17 lead with 6:12 remaining in the third period. However, the Lady Beavers would find a way to be a part of the game. Scott City (1-2) used an 8-2 run over the final six minutes of the third quarter to trail 26-25 after three quarters. Wichita Trinity (3-0) pushed the lead to 30-25 two minutes into the final frame. From there, the Lady Beavers took their second lead of the game at 34-33 on a Macie Price three with 2:42 left. With a little over a minute left, it was Alex Bearup draining a deep three to give the Lady Knights a 36-34 lead. Kaitlyn Roberts would respond off an inbounds play for the game-tying basket at 36 with 45 seconds left. Wichita Trinity would hold for the final shot, as they found an open Lauren Snodgrass on the left side with three seconds remaining, as the Lady Knights escaped with a 38-36 victory.

Alex Bearup led the way for Wichita Trinity with a game-high 16 points. They finished with 15 turnovers and were just 4-9 from the free throw line. Scott City got a career high 13 points from Macie Price. The Lady Beavers finished with 20 turnovers and saw improvement at the foul line, going 8-14. Wichita Trinity now improves to 5-0 in the all-time series.
