Weathers inks with Emporia State basketball

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Emily Weathers all along knew that she wanted to play basketball in college. A three-sport athlete who has also excelled in vollebyall and track, Weathers made it official on Wednesday by signing her letter of intent to play basketball at Emporia State University. She made her verbal commitment to the Lady Hornet program June 26, but had to wait to sign until November. 

Through her first three seasons, Weathers has averaged 10.6 points per game, shooting 54% from the field in 71 games played. She averaged 13.3 points and pulled down 6.8 rebounds, leading Scott City to a 17-7 record an a Class 3A State Tournament berth, and has been a part of all three state tournament teams in program history. Over those three years, the Lady Beavers are 50-23, with two GWAC runner-up finishes and a league championship. 

Weathers was a first-team all-GWAC selection in 2019 and second team in 2018.  

She plans on looking at studying in accounting as a major at Emporia State.
