Washington Trip Lays Groundwork For Keeping Rail in SW Kansas

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) As many as 65 officials from Southwestern Kansas made the trip to Washington D.C. over the past few days with the goal to lobby on key issues that affect us here.  The big one was keeping rail service in our area.  Garden City Manager Matt Allen believes they took the steps necessary to achieve this.

Allen says they also met with officials from both Burlington Northern and Amtrak.  Allen remains positive that they have developed the plan necessary to retain current rail services.
