WaKeeney Man Dies In Tractor Trailer Accident In Scott County

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A WaKeeney man died Wednesday morning as a result of a semi-truck accident about three miles west of Scott City. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, 25-year old Christopher Kroger of Ness City was northbound, crossing Kansas Highway 96 on Indian Road in a 2002 Mack Semi-Truck, when 58-year old Timothy Smith of WaKeeney collided with Kroger in the westbound lane of K96 in his 1995 Freightliner Truck. The Kroger vehicle rolled onto its top and came to rest in the north ditch, while the Smith vehicle also rolled into the north ditch and it caught fire.

Kroger was taken to Scott County Hospital for possible injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. Smith was taken to Price and Sons Funeral Home in the 8:35 am accident. The report didn’t indicate whether or not he was wearing a seatbelt.
