Virginia L. Nicolet
Virginia L. Nicolet, 90, died March 3, 2016 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on February 5, 1926 at Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of O.M. and Virginia (Richmond) Larsen.
She married Albert “Skeet” Nicolet on February 16, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri, he preceded her in death on December 9, 2011. They met at the University of Kansas where she was chosen first runner up for Jayhawker Beauty Queen by actor Gregory Peck. Mrs. Nicolet was a partner with her husband in the Nicolet Clothing Store in Cimarron and in the Gibson Mall in Dodge City. She hosted several clothing style shows over the years. Mrs. Nicolet was a avid golfer and a very accomplished artist.
She was a member of the PEO, several bridge clubs, Chi Omega and past member of the Dodge City Women’s Chamber.
Survivors include three sons Scott Nicolet and wife Sandra of Dodge City; Greg Nicolet and wife Shirley of Cimarron; Marc Nicolet and wife Diane of Reno, Nevada; one daughter Suzanne Nicolet of Lawrence, Kansas. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Carl Nance presiding. Inurnment will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Wounded Veterans Fund in care of the funeral home.
