Verlie R. Stout

Verlie R. Stout, 95, died January 5, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on October 27, 1921 at West Haven, California the daughter of Ben and Ann Marie Kelly (Willis) Turpin. 

She married William M. Stout on September 19, 1941 in McPherson, Kansas, he preceded her in death on February 7, 1991. After their marriage they resided in Nickerson, Kansas and later moved to Mesa, Arizona and resided there until Mr. Stout’s passing. Mrs. Stout moved back to Kansas after her husband’s passing to be closer to her family. She enjoyed watching the birds,taking care of her cats and watching children playing. Mrs. Stout also enjoyed ceramics, gardening and painting in her spare time. 

She is survived by two daughters Darlene Young and Dixie DiPaolo both of Dodge City; three sisters Ann Shannon of Oklahoma; Johnie Ann Couse and husband Lyle of Oregon; Pat Kelly of Arizona; Grandchildren Christine Frey and husband Randy; Robert Young and wife Billy Jean; Gary Joe Young and wife Bridget; Shelly Young; Jamie Swafford and husband Brian; Crystal Mallicote and husband John. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William M. Stout , her parents, four sisters and one grandchild.

Graveside service will be held at the Sterling Cemetery on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
