Vennetta Tannehill, 90 died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born October 3, 1925 in Marysville, Oklahoma the daughter of Bill & Cora (Dunn) Battles.
Vennetta grew up in the Maysville, Oklahoma area. She graduated from Elmore City High School in 1943. Vennetta moved to Oklahoma City. On February 24, 1945, she married Archie E. Tannehill in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After their marriage they moved to Purcell, Oklahoma. The later moved to a farm in Garvin County, Oklahoma. In 1989 they moved to Garden City where they have lived since. A homemaker, Vennetta enjoyed reading. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Garden City.
Survivors include three daughters Diane “Dane” Kaster of Garden City, Gayle Linnebur of Spearville, Ks., and Lana Denson of Dallas, Tx.; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Vennetta is preceded in death by her husband Archie who died on November 14, 1995. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother R.C. Battles; a sister Treasie Whatley; a grandson Brad Denson; and a son-in-law David Rehmert.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church in Garden City with Pastor Kent Anderson and Pastor Nathan Sheridan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
