Vancleave takes home another honor
Holcomb, KS-It has been a rather busy summer for Conner Vancleave.
The former Holcomb star has already been named the Gatorade Player of the Year and 4A-II baseball player of the year. On Tuesday, Vancleave added another prestigious honor, making his way onto the American Baseball Coach’s Association All-Region Team.
“It’s an unbelievable accomplishment, but it was all made possible thanks to my coaches and teammates,” Vancleave said.
Vancleave was nearly unhittable on the mound, going 8-1 while sporting a 0.29 ERA. He struck out 101 batters of the the 186 he faced including a 15-k performance vs. Nickerson in the state semifinals. As a hitter, he finished with a .768 average, five home runs and 53 RBI.
“The community has been so supportive of me my entire career,” Vancleave added.
Vancleave will play for the Kansas Jayhawks next season.
