Unemployment rate dips
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – The jobless rate in Kansas is down. A report released today by the state’s labor department says the unemployment rate dipped to 6.2 percent in August. The latest report also says that almost 18,000 more people held non-farm jobs in Kansas last month than in the same time last year. Hiring by private companies was slightly stronger, growing by almost 17,000 jobs over the year.
