Ulysses repeats as GWAC volleyball champions
Hugoton, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Ulysses Lady Tigers continued their dominance of the GWAC on Saturday, as they went 5-0 to win the Great West Activities Confernece Tournament title, and win the league outright for the second straight year. Ulysses would win all their matches in straight sets. It was their second straight year they have won the GWAC title, and the fifth time in nine years.
Scott City, Colby and Holcomb all went 3-2 on the day, but it would be Scott City winning the tiebreaker to take the second place spot. They also would finish as the league runner-up for the second time in three years. Goodland would finish fifth and Hugoton was sixth.
The teams will compete in sub-state play on Saturday. Ulysses will host a sub-state in Class 4A, Colby heads to the Class 3A, Phillipsburg Sub-State, while Goodland, Holcomb, Hugoton and Scott City will be at the Class 3A, Cimarron Sub-State.
