U.S. 83 resurfacing project to start Tuesday
After a three-week delay, a resurfacing project between Scott City and Garden City will be starting soon.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic changes are anticipated to start on Tuesday, September 3, along U.S. 83 from the U.S. 50/83/400 intersection north to the south city limits of Scott City.
U.S. 83 traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections as they work to resurface the roadway along the 31.55-mile-long project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers, and a pilot car will direct one-lane traffic through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. U.S. 83 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.
Venture Corporation, of Great Bend, is the contractor on this $5.5 million project. Weather permitting, it is expected to be completed by the end of November.
