Two southwest Kansas highways reopened after windmill tower sections roll off highway
The Kansas Department of Transportation-Southwest Kansas has announced that both highways affected by windmill tower sections that rolled off the highway are now open.
On Monday, a section of Kansas Highway 156 east of Jetmore was closed due to an oversized load that lost a windmill tower section off the trailer. After a crane was needed to reload the trailer, the highway opened Tuesday afternoon.
Late Tuesday afternoon west of Leoti on Kansas Highway 96, another road closure occurred due to another overside load that lost a windmill tower section off the trailer. The highway was reopened as of Wednesday morning
KDOT crews were on-site flagging traffic through the scene. Detours were set at both locations.
