Two Lady Buster Basketball Players Sign With NCAA Programs-Audio

Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – Its moving on to the next level for two Garden City Community College Basketball players, as Deni Jacobs from Plains, Kansas and Mikell Chinn from Cincinnati, Ohio signed letters of intent on the official signing day for the NCAA Wednesday April 17th. Both athletes have made a major contribution to the Lady Buster program over the past two years in helping Garden City to a 50-16 record during that time and two back to back runner-up finishes in the Jayhawk West. Deni Jacobs was selected 2nd team All-Conference and Region VI honorable mention, after finishing the 2012-2013 season averaging 12.2 points per game, 6 rebounds and shooting 77.5 percent from the free throw line. Deni Jacobs will play for Division II Metropolitan State University in Denver Colorado next year and comments on her decision for Metro State and playing for the Lady Busters quality program.

Point guard Mikell Chinn from Cincinnati, Ohio has been a tremendous leader for the Lady Buster program, even in her first year here after tearing her (ACL) in her left knee at the beginning of the season. After surgery, Mikell still revealed her leadership and assistance to the coaching staff everyday in practice and at the games. Chinn worked extremely hard to rehabilitate her knee and returned to the program for this past season contributing with her leadership on and off the floor. Mikell is a great floor general in directing the Lady Busters offense and a relentless defensive player. She averaged nearly 5 assists per game with a game high of 8 during the year and she was a 71.4 percent free throw shooter and averaged 5 points per game. Chinn comments on her experience with Lady Buster Coach Alaura Sharp and the opportunity to play at the division I level at Kent State University.
