Two killed in Meade County accident
Meade, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Two Liberal residents were killed in a car accident in Meade County Saturday morning. At 9:43 a.m. three miles west of Meade on US 54. An SUV was eastbound on US 54. A semi was westbound on US 54. The SUV moved toward the center line in a possible passing attempt, lost control and went into a side skid. The semi struck the SUV on the driver’s side.
Both occupants of the SUV were killed in the accident. The driver Xavier Lemus, 62, of Liberal and Maria Catillo-Delemus , 58, of Liberal were pronounced dead at Western Plains Medical Complex just after noon. The semi driver, a California man, was not injured.
