Toledo downs Moon for first Adams Tour win

pro am

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-After 16 holes on Sunday, it appeared that Guatemalan Jose Toledo’s quest of taking home his first pro title in the states would be nothing short of a sure thing.

But then came the par-4 17th, which nearly cost Toledo his title hopes. He ended up bogeying the hole, while Alex Moon parred his final three holes to force a playoff.

In the overtime though, Moon’s comeback fell short after he missed a four-foot put for par, giving Toledo the title of the 37th annual Southwest Kansas Pro Am.

“I just wanted to give myself a chance for birdie in the playoff,” Toledo said afterwards. “I put myself in a bad position after making a mistake on 17.”

As poorly as Toledo finished, his start was just the opposite. He was brilliant on the front nine, birdying four of his first nine holes. Then he drained two more on 10 and 11.
