Thomas “Tom” Leon Brady Jr.
Thomas “Tom” Leon Brady Jr., 53, died January 22, 2017 at Wesley-Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita. He was born on October 2, 1963 in Dodge City, the son of Thomas Leon “Leon” Sr. and Martha Jane “Marty” (Gow) Brady.
Tom lived most of his childhood in Winfield. In 1997, Tom moved to El Dorado and resided in the Easter Seals Capper Foundation home. Tom collected century sail ships, enjoyed computer games, watching movies and listening to and dancing to music. Whether attending camps, the State Fair, or merely going to the bank, Tom was adventuress and always up for a road trip. Tom won several medals in Special Olympics, many from his favorite activities such as fishing and swimming. Despite all of Tom’s disabilities, he touched many lives with his bright smile and ornery and playful spirit.
Tom is survived by two sisters, Tina Rakes of Baldwin City and Tracy Fesler and husband Brian of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Matt Brady of Colorado Springs, Colorado; step-mother, Donna Brady of Dodge City; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, the many caregivers, and special friend Marilyn, also a resident of Easter Seals Capper Foundation. He is preceded in death by his parents, several aunts, uncles, and a cousin
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Easter Seals Capper Foundation of El Dorado in care of Swaim Funeral Home – 1901 Sixth – Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
