Gilbert: Ford County on Solid Footing After a Year of Change
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) A video presentation with the various department leaders highlighted Thursday’s State of the Ford County address at the Boot Hill Casino and Convention Center in Dodge City. County administrator J.D. Gilbert is encouraged by the future even during this past year of change.
For Gilbert now is the time to set everything in motion.
The property tax lid that’s in effect right now limits how much local municipal government across the state of Kansas can raise taxes without a vote of the people. Gilbert says to learn about the idea’s effectiveness, you have to go back in history.
The lid makes planning for future development problematic.
For now it appears the idea is not going away.
