Thanksgiving travel numbers expected to be up for 2017

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) With Thanksgiving on Thursday this week marks one of the busiest travel weeks of the year.

Over 50 million people are expected to travel more than 50 miles from home this thanksgiving, that’s a 3.3 percent increase over last year. 2005 is the last year that saw thanksgiving travel numbers this high.

4.1 million people in the West North Central Region are expected to travel 50 miles are more. A 3 percent increase from last year and the largest number of travelers since 2007.
