Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-There were times Wednesday night where Garden City Head Coach Harvey Sanders looked frustrated. But compared to 48 hours earlier, those moments were few and far between.

After losing in three sets Monday to Pratt, Sanders’ team responded two days later with a four set: 15-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-23 victory at the Perryman Athletic Complex.

“We did the things that we needed to do to come out on top,” Sanders aid. “We were more on the attack tonight. It’s something we worked on in practice these past two days.”

As cliche as it sounds, practice does makes perfect. And after dropping the opening set, Garden City (7-14, 3-5) responded with a straight-set win. What was the different compared to Monday Night?

“We changed some things with our lineup tonight,” Sanders said. “We did a couple of different things with our rotations.”

As for the impact:

“It’s the first time I’ve been a setter in a while,” sophomore Abigail Reinick said afterwards. “We told ourselves, we’ve got this. And it just came together.”

It did, especially during the final set. Trailing Butler (8-15, 2-5) 8-3, Sanders quickly called a timeout to regroup.

“I told them that we need to finish things on our terms,” he said. “We need to pass it better and put each other in good positions to make good swings. And we did that.”

Garden City rallied to take a 16-13 advantage-sparking a fist pump from Sanders. The Busters eventually finished the Grizzlies off-holding off every rally to take the final frame.
