SW Kansas boasts lowest unemployment numbers in the state
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Kansas Department of Labor has released it’s January Labor Market Report. The data shows a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.5 percent for the state. The same as December, but down from 3.9 percent in January 2017.
Seasonally adjusted job estimates indicate total Kansas nonfarm jobs increased by 200 from December. Private sector jobs, a subset of total nonfarm jobs, increased by 300 from the previous month.
SW Kansas continues to have the lowest unemployment numbers in the state at 2.29 percent across the region. Gray County has the lowest rate in the state at 1.7 percent, while Linn County has the highest at 6.7. Seward County has the highest in SW Kansas at 3.1 percent. Finney and Ford County both were at 2.3 percent.
