Suicide During KHP Traffic Stop in Dodge City

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) On Monday morning at 8:37 a.m. Dodge City Police officers were sent to the 2300 block of East Trail Street regarding a shooting during a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s traffic stop.

When officers arrived they found Bruce Cox, the 63 year old driver of the stopped vehicle deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. After a thorough investigation it has been ruled a suicide.

The KHP trooper who made the stop, Dustin Gall, was not injured and didn’t fire his service weapon. The deceased fired only one shot which was the self-inflicted fatal wound.

No other individuals were involved and there were no passengers in the vehicle.
