State’s Fiscal Trouble Could Spell Over to Cities, Counties
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) There is talk that depending on how the state handles their budget shortfall this year, Standard and Poors could drop the Sunflower State’s credit rating from its current ranking of AA. Would such a drop have an adverse effect on Garden City? City Manager Matt Allen is keeping a close eye on it.
That along with attempts to add exemptions for the property tax lid in place could affect the interest rate Garden City would repay on bonds taken out for infrastructure improvements.
