State Theater: Under New Ownership
The Garden City Commission sold the State Theater downtown for 10-thousand dollars at Tuesday’s commission meeting. The buyer, businessman and entrepreneur Duane West wants to take it off the city’s hands.
The city will pay 50-thousand to help bring the State Theater up to code. Now its up to the Garden City Rec and Preservation Alliance to do the rest.
Arts Director Brian Seagraves says do not expect the restoration to be simple.
Some small productions have already been held at the State Theater over the past couple of years.
