State Supreme Court Hears Cases For First Time in Garden City

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Court was in session Tuesday night at Garden City High School.  For the first time in the State Supreme Court’s 154 year history they were in Garden City and heard everything from declaring a mistrial in a murder case to whether searching a man’s car was legal.

Chief Justice Lawton Nuss believes the outreach initiative is important.

Beyond parents getting a look at our legal system what did Justice Nuss hope children learned?

USD 457 Superintendent Doctor Steve Karlin believes being presented with this opportunity was something school officials could not ignore.

Doctor Karlin sat in on the judge’s session with students earlier in the day.

Tuesday night’s session attracted a near capacity crowd.
