St. Catherine Hospital unveils new Emergency Department
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) St. Catherine Hospital held a ribbon cutting Thursday to open its remodeled emergency department. LifeTeam also announced that they have changed the name to LifeSave Transport.
The new department features a lower front counter that allows patients to better those working behind the desk. The emergency room is an eight room unit with two trauma, two private and four semi-private rooms.
All of the rooms have a heart monitor and TV for possible long waits. The department also has a new call system and new exam lights in every room to help with better care. The x-ray room was also remodeled with more space and new equipment.
Hospital CEO Scott Taylor said the remodel was prompted by calls from the community and partners.
“We heard you when you said we need a nicer, larger emergency department and I want to thank the community for donating over $600,000 toward the total $2.5 million that it took to build this emergency department,” said Taylor.
He also thanked Centura Health for making hundreds of millions of dollars in investments over the last five years.
“To make sure that St. Catherine is the specialty critical care center for Western Kansas,” said Taylor, “we are already the largest, busiest emergency department West of Wichita and now we are one of the nicest, newest facilities to go along with it.”
