St. Catherine Hospital names Volunteer of the Year
Garden City, KS. – St. Catherine Hospital has named the Volunteer of the Year for 2017, Marie Millershaski. This award is presented to those that demonstrate the spirit of St. Catherine of Siena, live the core values of the hospital each day and own a deep respect for patients.
Marie volunteers making baby blankets for the Maternal Child Department and uses her own money to buy the thread and material. After her husband lost his battle to cancer, Marie wanted to do something to give back. To date, she has made 597 blankets for the little angels born at the hospital
Brian Schultz also received special recognition. While Brian is employed by the hospital, he quietly volunteers his time in a unique way. In those rare instances of prenatal loss, some very special people work behind the scenes with generosity and spirituality. Using his own resources, time and talents, Brian carefully crafts a small chest to hold the little-ones for burial. His compassion exemplifies St. Catherine’s core values.
Hospital volunteers are outstanding in the comfort they bring, loyal and supportive in heartfelt ways, and truly untiring in their effort to be helpful to patients, families and associates. If you’re interested in volunteer opportunities at St. Catherine Hospital, please call Shari at 620-272-2522.
