Squashed: Buff boys move on; girls come up short–Scores
Final Highlights: GCHS vs. Great Bend
Hays, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Jacy Holloway was wondering how his team would react when they got punched in the mouth. Thursday night they took Thomas Moore Prep’s best shot. On Friday, Great Bend threw a couple of hay makers.
Hunter Delgado scored 13 points including nine in the first quarter as the Buffaloes routed Great Bend 56-36 in the semifinals of the 31st annual Hays Shootout at Indians Field House.
“We’re coming together,” Holloway said. “We’re not there, but we’re getting there.”
The Panthers threatened early, but that was it. In fact, they never led in the game as every Great Bend bucket was countered with a quick score the other way.
Tristan Nanninga had 11 points and Caleb Tramp netted 10.

Final Highlights: GCHS vs. Great Bend
Great Bend, Kan-When the brackets came out for the 31st annual Hays Shootout, most experts when ahead and penciled in No. 6 Garden City into the finals. After all, they were coming off their most successful season in school history and returned basically everyone from last year’s squad.
That is why they play the games. Regan Unruh scored a game-high 16 points and was the only Lady Panther in double figures as Great Bend knocked off the Lady Buffs 52-46 in a semifinal showdown at Indians Field House.
“We had a game plan and we just didn’t execute it,” Head Coach David Upton said. “We had too many blown defensive assignments.”
Taryn Tempel and Jaymie Bernbeck were saddled with foul trouble. The two combined for 24 points but were neutralized down the stretch.
