Liberal, Ks (westernkansasnews)-Dodge City  riding a solid pitching performance by Ty Thomas all the way to a 2-1 win over Liberal on Wednesday night at Brent Gould Field.

Thomas scattered only two hits while striking out two in five innings of work. In fact, BeeJays first basemen Seth Stevens had the only two hits off of Thomas: a two-out single in the first and a one-out single in the 4th.

Liberal scored their only run in the 6th off of reliever Garrett Brummett. It happened after Lewis Guilbeau smacked a one-out triple. After Tanner Kirk struck out, Tanner Rainey laid down a perfect squeeze bunt that scored Guilbeau from third.

Brian Mills got the Dodge City (9-12, 5-10) offense jump started in the 3rd with an RBI single that scored Kevin Hall.

A’s would add another run in the 4th when Darius Knight scored from third on a strikeout wild pitch.

“He (Knight) made a great catch in the outfield and did everything for us tonight,” A’s manager Michael Robbins said. “He got on base seemingly every time he was at the plate.”

Dodge City and Liberal square off again Thursday night at Cavalier Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
