Silvester Guebara, 70 of Garden City, Kansas died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born January 1, 1943 in Meadow, Texas the son of Bernardino & Frances (Esquivel) Guebara, Sr.

Silvester grew up in Meadow, Texas. He later moved to Brownfield, Texas. He moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1968 and has lived in Garden City and Amarillo, Texas since. Silvester enjoyed watching western movies, yard work, dancing, singing, reading his Bible, telling stories, and spending time with his family.

On April 15, 1960, he married Susana Castillo in Plainview, Texas. She survives. Other survivors include nine children Ben Guebara of Garden City, Ks., Ralph Guebara of Hereford, Tx., Paul Guebara of Garden City, Ks., George Guebara of Garden City, Ks., Silvia Cordes of Garden City, Ks., Andy Guebara of Garden City, Ks., David Guebara of Greeley, Co., Raquel Fuentes of Amarillo, Tx., & Rebecca Camarillo of Salina, Ks.; 3 brothers; 7 sisters; 41 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. Silvester is preceded in death by his parents; a son Tony Guebara; 2 brothers Frank Guebara and Bernardino Guebara, Jr.; a sister Virginia Guebara; and a great-grandson.

Visitation: Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church in Garden City with Pastor Stil Guerrero officiating.

Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

The family requests memorials given to the Silvester Guebara Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
