Sidney Lee Nevin
Sidney Lee Nevin, 71 of Garden City died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born November 19, 1942 in Scott City, Kansas the son of Leland E. & Thelma May (Grippin) Nevin.
A long time Garden City resident, Sidney worked as an electrician for Laughlin Electric and Simpson Brothers Electric. He retired in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Garden City and a member of the Knights of Columbus #2795 of Garden City. Sidney loved woodworking and enjoyed making furniture. He also enjoyed country music and NASCAR.
On May 13, 1961 he married Joyce Meier in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include three children Anita “Skeeter” & husband Alan Johnson of Garden City; Johnnie & wife LeAnne Nevin of Colorado Springs, Co, and Kelly & wife Dee Nevin of Garden City; two brothers Finley Nevin of Latham, Kansas and Donnie Nevin of Holcomb, Kansas; a sister Roxanna Skaggs of Orville, California; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Sidney is preceded in death by his parents a brother Stanley Nevin; and two sisters Nellie Pinzenscham and Lillian Reed.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Fr. Charles Seiwert presiding.
Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
