Sharon Lynette (Koehn) Isaac

Sharon Lynette (Koehn) Isaac was born on July 14, 1953 to Wilbur and Laveda (Koehn) Koehn at Montezuma, KS. She peacefully left us for her heavenly home in the early morning of September 28, 2016, reaching the age of 63.

Mom enjoyed growing up and working on the farm, shocking feed and feeding the animals. We enjoyed hearing stories of the fun times they had together. 

She received her education at Cimarron Public School. During high school, she worked in the lunchroom to help pay for the lunches for her and her siblings. 
At a young age she gave her heart to the Lord, and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in January of 1967 by her father, Min. Wilbur Koehn. To these vows she remained faithful until death.

After graduating from high school she worked at Cimarron Insurance for two years, and spent a summer teaching Bible school on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. 

On August 26, 1973, she married me, Eldon Isaac, and we began our life working together to make a home and establish a homestead in the sand hills southwest of Ingalls, Kansas. We planted trees, farmed, and gardened together. I have always felt her support and interest in all I was involved with. Our home was blessed with two sons and one daughter. We never had many material possessions, but our home was rich in love, laughter, & family times together. 

Mom spent a number of years in mission service with Dad in Central America. She threw her heart into the work there – teaching Bible school, holding sewing classes for the ladies, making pizza and other activities with the young people, and learning to prepare the native foods. The people there held a special place in her heart, and she was disappointed that she was not able to return to her beloved land and people.

Mom had many friends, treasuring each and every one of them. Mom enjoyed doing things for others, sacrificing herself unselfishly to help them. She filled her spare time with making crafts, writing, spending time with her grandchildren, and keeping in touch with her family and all of her friends. She kept a journal of her mission happenings and the experiences of the people she learned to know, and spent much time compiling these into a book for her family. 
A highlight of Mom’s later life was the purchase of a small house in Scotia, Nebraska, where she could be close to her grandchildren there. The people there took us into their hearts and made us feel like we belonged. 

Left with many precious memories are her husband, Eldon; two sons, Wayne and wife Sherry, North Loup, Nebraska, Arlen and wife Myra, Ingalls, Kansas; one daughter, Janalee and husband Terence Smith, Montezuma, Kansas; seven grandsons and three granddaughters; her father, Wilbur Koehn of Cimarron, Kansas; four brothers, Denton Koehn and wife Maureen, Ulysses, Kansas, Sanford Koehn and wife Donna, Dallas Koehn and wife Linda, both of Cimarron, Kansas, Robert Koehn and wife Ruthie, Emelle, Alabama; two sisters, Barbara and husband Mike Jantzen and Brenda Russell, both of Cimarron, Kansas, a sister-in-law, Jolene Koehn of Meade, Kansas, the Isaac family and many other relatives and friends. 

We as a family wish to express a heartfelt “thank you!” to the caregivers of Meade District Hospital, Hospice of St Catherine, and the many others that made her last weeks special.

Funeral service will be held at Living Hope Mennonite Church on Saturday October 1, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Living Hope Mennonite Church Cemetery in Ingalls.
