Several positions and questions on Election Day ballots in SW Kansas

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Today is election day and voters in Southwest Kansas have a lot to vote for.

In Finney County voters will be asked to make a decision on a .30 percent sales tax to help fund several projects including a third fire station, an indoor gun range, improvements at Lee Richardson Zoo and improvements to Jennie Barker Road. County Commissioner Dr Bill Clifford on the proposed sales tax.

Voters in Finney County will also vote on Garden City Commissioners, school board, Garden City Community Colleges Board of Trustees and the Holcomb City Council and School Board.

Voters in the Holcomb school district will vote on two school bond proposals that total a little under $7.5 million. The first question is to improve security at the schools, while the second is to improve the athletic facilities. Holcomb Superintendent Jean Rush explains the questions further

With the bonds presented as two separate questions it’s possible that both, one or the other or neither question could pass.

In Ford County the main position up for grabs are the four spots on the Dodge City Community College board of trustees, eight people are running. In Ford County you’ll also be voting on the Dodge City school board and city commission. Outside of Dodge City positions on the Cimarron, Minneola and Fowler school boards.

Voters in Scott County are asked to make a decision on a $25 million school bond for improvements at the elementary and middle school, and would fund a new gym and improvements to the football complex as well as improvements to the high school and district offices. Positions up for election include the Scott City Mayor, Treasurer and School Board.

Those of you voting in Gray county will be voting for the Mayor of Ingles and in Haskell you’ll be voting for the Mayor of Sublette.
