Secretary Kobach Testifies
(AP) Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is scheduled to testify in Cincinnati before a presidential elections commission about the state’s efforts to crosscheck voter registration databases. The Republican official will be speaking Friday to a group formed in March by President Barack Obama to identify best practices used by states to conduct elections. Those suggestions will be used for potential changes in federal voting laws. Kansas is among 26 states participating in a voter registration program that crosschecks the names of registered voters. The program checks the databases in each state to make sure voters aren’t registered to vote in more than one location. Kansas began the program along with Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska in 2005.
