Second Half Rally Helps Bucklin Get Past Thunder Ridge
Emporia, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After trailing 22-20 at the break, the Bucklin Lady Red Aces would hold Thunder Ridge to only 1o second half points, as they move on the 1A, Division I Semi-Finals Friday night with a 45-32 win over the Lady Longhorns.
Bucklin trailed 22-20 at the break, and used runs of 12-6 and 13-4 in the third and fourth quarter to rally for their 18th win of the season. Both teams shot 33% for the game, but the difference came from the three-point line. The Lady Red Aces seven three-pointers, while Thunder Ridge had just one. Also, Bucklin took 11 more free throw attempts than did the Lady Longhorns, and converted five more. Three Lady Red Aces (18-5) reached double figure scoring. Morgan Hood led all scorers with 20 points, while Janae Price and Alexis Cossell added 11. Thunder Ridge ends their season at 18-5, and were paced by Brittany Kirchoff’s 12 points.
Up next for Bucklin will be undefeated and top seed Olpe, who knocked off Hanover 56-40. The first two games saw Hoxie throttle South Haven 81-36, and St. John take out Centre 55-26
