Tough Choices; Scott County Schools Balance Budget

0

Scott City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Nine teaching or staff positions were cut and numerous programs including summer school were eliminated.  Last night the goal for Scott County schools was to trim 700,000 dollars from the budget after hearing an audit that said they were that much in the hole for next year.  Matthew Fox President of the Scott County Teachers Association says even those in the classroom had to give a little.

The two percent reduction in employee salaries cut 105-thousand dollars. Total savings at the end of the night came out to 705,000 dollars, a little more than what the school board needed.
