Scott City’s Weathers commits to Emporia State

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–There was no doubt that Emily Weathers would be a college basketball player. From the first day she stepped on the court as a freshman for the Lady Beavers, has has made an impact on the program. On Wednesday, the Scott City product announced via twitter that she verbally committed to Emporia State.

Through her first three seasons, Weathers has averaged 10.6 points per game, shooting 54% from the field in 71 games played. She averaged 13.3 points and pulled down 6.8 rebounds, leading Scott City to a 17-7 record an a Class 3A State Tournament berth, and has been a part of all three state tournament teams in program history.

Weathers chose Emporia State over MIAA foes Central Missouri and Fort Hays State.

Emporia State is coached by Toby Wynn, who took the Lady Hornets to the NCAA Division II Tournament in his first season, falling to eventual national runner-up Southwest Oklahoma State in the first round of the tournament. They were 22-9 overall, and 13-6 in the MIAA in 2018-19 season. Wynn previously coached at Seward County Community College in Liberal. In 13 seasons, he was 349-84, and led the Lady Saints to four Jayhawk Conference championships, and two Region VI titles.
