Scott City’s Turner named Track & Field Coach of the Year
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Coming off their second state championship in three years, Scott City track & field head coach Jim Turner was named the Class 3A Boys Coach of the Year for Track & Field for the 2018 season.
This award was announced by the Kansas Cross County and Track & Field Coaches Association.
Turner was selected for the 3A award for the teams performance at the league, regional and state track meet. Under Turner, the boys track teams in Scott City have won three state titles, in 2008, 2016 and in 2018.
The 2018 state champion team scored the second most points at a state meet in May in school history with 74 points, and had the largest margin in a state meet in program history, winning by 29 points over second place Garden Plain.
