Scott City’s Price picks Independence

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The last two seasons for the Scott City Lady Beaver basketball team have undoubtedly been the best in program history, with two state tournament appearances in two different divisions, including a fourth place finish in Class 4A, Division II in Emporia last season. One of those key pieces is taking her talents to the next level.

Macie Price made it official, signing with Independence Community College.

Price, a two-year starter for the Lady Beavers, transferred from Dodge City after her sophomore season, made an immediate impact on the court. As a junior, she averaged 8.2 points and 3.2 assists, including a 23-point performance against Andale in the third place game of the Class 4A, Division II State Tournament. As a senior, she averaged 8.5 points and nearly five assists per game, in helping lead Scott City to the Class 3A State Tournament. She also was a All-GWAC First Team in 2017 and Second Team in 2018. Price also was named to the Colby Orange & Black All Tournament Team.

Independence finished 26-7 in the 2017-18 season, going 21-5 to tie Hutchinson for second in the Jayhawk Conference, and were Region IV runners-up to Seward County. The Lady Pirates are coached by Leslie Crane, who wrapped up her fifth season as head coach. Scott City Coach Sarah McCormick also played at Independence under Keitha Adams, who is currently the Wichita State Women’s Head Coach.

Price chose Independence over Hutchinson, and will major in Biology.
