Scott City wrestling takes care of Holcomb

Holcomb, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–In Tuesday night’s dual in Holcomb, Scott City came in a little shorthanded, thanks in part to injuries and key parts of their squad unable to be in the lineup. While the Beavers and Longhorns had some open weight classes, Scott City remained unbeaten in dual competition with a 43-28 win Tuesday night.

Two of the matches saw wrestlers match up that faced off Saturday. In the 170-pound match, Holcomb’s Chance Rodriguez pinned Scott City’s Trey Loftis in the finals of the Scott City Wrestling Classic on Saturday. Even though Rodriguez repeated as a winner, it was only by major decision over Loftis. The second rematch was at 220, as Garrett Osborn faced Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez trailed big on Saturday, when he got a reversal and a fall in the third period. Tuesday night however, it was Osborn getting revenge, with a decision win in the final match of the evening.

Scott City will travel to the John Higgins Invitational on Saturday, while Holcomb heads to the Cimarron Invitational on  Friday.
