Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Scott City and Holcomb took to the mat Thursday night for their final tune up for the GWAC Tourament on Saturday. While they will face off once again on the mat on Saturday, the Beavers got the upper hand in Scott City, winning four straight matches in the middle of the dual, en route to a 50-21 win in front of a good crowd at Scott Community High School gymnasium.

Ten total matches were wrestled, and seven resulted in falls, and two ended up in decision. The best match by far of the night came at 152 pounds, where two ranked wrestled faced off for the third of four matches between the wrestlers this season. Jarret Jurgens came in winning two straight, including a decision in the finals of the Rocky Welton Wrestling Tournament last Saturday over Tanner Johnson. Johnson scored the first two points of the match on a second period reversal, but Jurgens reversed Johnson back to tie the match heading in the third period. Jurgens would reverse Johnson about halfway through, and held on for the 4-2 victory. The same two wrestlers are ranked three and four in Class 4A, and will see each other on Saturday once again.

As mentioned, both Scott City and Holcomb will compete in the GWAC Wrestling Tournament on Saturday in Colby, that begins at 10 am.
