Scott City Wrestling Finishes 10th in Colby
Colby, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Beaver wrestling team took part in the ever-tough Colby Eagle Dual Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday, and took 10th place overall in the 18-team field.
Scott City was in Pool C, located at Colby Elementary School. The Beaver grapplers had a rough day, going 1-3. They wrestled three consecutive duals, falling to Oberlin 37-35, defeated by Wray, CO 50-29, drilled Hoxie 54-27, and was pounced by Pine Creek, CO to end the day 54-27. On Saturday, Scott City had a great day, going 3-0, and closed out pool competition with a 38-36 win over Hutchinson. In the placing rounds at Colby High School, the Beavers whipped Concordia 48-30, and Legend, CO 61-18. By the end of the weekend, Scott City finished with a dual record of 4-3, and placed 10th as a team. Valley Center won the title, followed by Colby and Pine Creek. Oberlin placed fourth, followed by Phillipsburg and Goodland. Eagle Crest, CO finished seventh, Hays eighth and Wray, CO was ninth. With Scott City in 10th, Legend, CO was 11th, followed by Concordia, Hutchinson, Liberal, Oakley, Hoxie, McPherson and St. Francis. Alex Kough had the fastest fall in Pool C at the Elementary School in the Lower Weights division, with a 23-second fall over his opponent from Hoxie.
